Yellowfin Tuna

Have had a couple of charters over the last few weeks, the first one we caught 2 yellowfin but lost 3 lures to big fish, still bringing 2 in made the clients happy.

Our last charter started out on a beautiful morning, the moon had just gone down & as we got the boat ready the sun came up, seas are calm so should be a great day.

It was a slow start to the day, saw a lot of Dolphins right at the boat, but no sign of bird or fish life. Just before 10 we hooked a Marlin,  the line started to reel out as the Marlin started jumping out of the water at the back of the boat.  Kyle jumped into the chair & started to work the rod, again another lot of line peeling out as the Marlin raced across the back, this time nearly spooling us.

It was a hard job trying to bring line back in, as soon as we gained some it took off again.  This went on for about 45 mins & finally looked as it was near the boat, when suddenly the line went dead!  After all that hard work it was gone.
The lure must have been just on the beak & not hooked properly.

Again the lines were set & we began our search for fish, soon a big school of birds were seen on the horizon so made our way to the action. It wasn't long till we had a double hook up, it took some time bringing the fish in working them at from opposite sides of the boat.

Once the fish were in we started to look for the birds but they had travelled a long way away from us, caught up to them but this time the fish went down so decided to call it a day & headed home.

Thankfully we have fish for dinner & it has been a lovely day out on the water.
