Fishing On Searov.

26th October.

We haven't managed to go out this week, so here are a few pictures that were taken on one of the charters that we had a couple of weeks ago.

We had a bronze whaler shark on, & luckily it snapped the line, just at the boat.
We ended up with a few Mahi mahi, yellow fin tuna, a very nice rainbow runner & a couple of barracuda.

More On Koro Trip

4th October

This is another picture taken at Koro Island. This shows the strip of beach to the right of the little village, that our guests visited.

Here is Terry coaching Michelle, on how to bring the fish in closer, so he can gaff it.

Job well done Michelle, that is a nice Mahi mahi.

School Of Trevally

Sunday 14th October

We were down at the boat about 5.30am, to get ready for our charter.

It was a beautiful clear morning, not many people around at this hour.
While waiting for our guests to arrive, to go out fishing, we watched this school of Trevally.
They were circling underneath the boat.

Trip To Koro Island

Sunday 4th October.

We had a week of strong winds & heavy rain, so when we were asked to take a family from Canada, to visit friends on one of the villages on Koro Island, we were a bit hesitant.

Come Sunday morning, the wind had dropped, & the seas were a lot calmer.
Koro is about 30 miles to the south east of Savusavu. It used to be a big copra producing island, but since the drop in the price of copra, a few plantations have been cut up, & sold off, as freehold blocks, to International buyers.

On reaching Koro, the family were picked up by their host for the day. We stayed on the boat & enjoyed the beautiful calm clear waters, of the bay we were anchored in. While waiting for the family to return from the village, we were entertained by a couple of Turtles, that kept coming up to the surface, then diving back down to hide under the rocks.

It was truly another wonderful day on the water. Even better, on the way home we put a couple of rods out as we approached the Koro Sea Mount & caught 3 nice Mahi mahi. Now we have dinner!!

The trip to Koro Island from Savusavu takes us 2 hrs one way, so with the 4hrs waiting, it was a long day. We were glad to get home for a shower.
