Another great day on the water

Needed to take Searov out to charge batteries & as it looked like it was going to be a fine day decided to carry on a little further.

There were a few birds flying around inside the harbour but after chasing them for a while decided to try the seamount.

There were lots of patches of birds working but nothing seemed to be coming up, then the outer line went off took it out for a short while then nothing, whatever it was did not hook on!

There were lots of dolphins around so decided to try somewhere else.

Soon there was something on the line & it went roaring off, then I saw a Marlin jump to the right had side of the boat.
As it was just Terry & I on board all hell broke out. Terry had 5 lines out so these had to be bought in first.

Finally just over a hour & and a half it was close enough to gaff, it was nearly dead so couldn't release it.  Once the gaff was in, it was now time to pull it onto the duckboard, this was a major feat and had to be done very quickly as sharks were beginning to appear under the fish.

Finally it was on & we slowly headed home while Terry secured fish.  It was a black about 95kg.
